      Probably accurate, but so weird that alternative sports (skateboarding/dirt bike etc) kept the spirit alive the entire time with stuff like Trials / Skate. I think I was thinking about it subconsciously bc of the THPS remaster.

      My theory is it was about being able to play sports games at an arcade, where the more realistic long-form games don’t work. Bringing the arcade-y sports games home was a novelty, and the death of arcades brought them with it.
