Yeah same here, but layoffs are treated differently once you reach certain thresholds. I think it's 50 people to trigger the WARN act.
I was laid off once by a company that cut 5 people less than the threshold to avoid payouts and having to report it publicly.
Yeesh. Well, I believe that it's not exactly cut and dry, and I think some lawyers may take cases to try to prove they purposely stayed under the threshold to avoid meeting the requirements.
