can someone please explain to me why the fuck every shrimp dish leaves the tails on nowadays do people just like having random inedible bits in their pasta or something

If they're cooked into a dish, especially one with a sauce, and the shell and/or tail are left on, then that's not a restaurant you should eat at again. They're using machine-shelled shrimp and are too lazy to remove them.

Oh. Well. Cafeteria food... Yeah. Next time tell them to cut the tails off the shrimp before serving you. :D
