As a general rule, I hate that those menus exist in the first place. If pressing the button doesn't start a movie or some sort of intro that's not a main menu, why am I pressing another button to play the game I already said I wanted to play? :-P
Yeah I think they like to get fancy with their transitions or want a “beauty screen” or some such nonsense. You know you’re in for something great when it recognizes you don’t have a save and it just begins. If I really need a menu I can pause it.
