Creators are constantly being penalized, both financially and with guideline strikes, for having unapproved political opinions. Viewers who purchase a SuperChat risk forfeiting the payment for said SuperChat if its content meets YouTube's arbitrary criteria for "abusive speech."

Instead of going to the creator that the fans intended to support, that money is intercepted and donated, against the will of the viewer who paid for the SuperChat, to an undisclosed charity of YouTube's choice. And the viewer is not notified when this interception occurs.

On top of that, YouTube fails to notify some viewers whenever certain channels begin livestreaming. Those channels must resort to posting announcements on Discord instead. This can lead to lower view counts for each livestream, since not all subscribers are members of the server.

With Patreon enforcing their code of conduct in a biased and unbalanced manner, and with YouTube demonetizing creators' videos and stealing their viewers' SuperChat payments, creators are left with few options to sustain themselves while continuing to make videos full-time.

YouTube's demonetization was the entire reason most creators opened a Patreon account in the first place. Now they can't even rely on that. For those of you who are worried about your YouTube or Patreon income, some of my friends are building an unbiased alternative to Patreon.
