I thought movies were making fun of america by putting flags everywhere. Making a social commentary on fascism. They're actually everywhere.

There's american flags on everything. It's actually really freaky. Normal People don't do this. They're even on urinals.
-
The infrastructure everywhere is falling apart. It's cracking, broken, and grimy. Everything had a layer of filth that could never be clean.
-
Everyone is in perpetual fear & distrust of one another. Race is really divided, there is no sense of community. It's fear and not strength.
-
white People there aren't afraid of Muslims or Mexicans or Black People. They're afraid of other white People. Particularly afraid of police
-
the white People there do all different kinds of crazy & violent things to one another, but clam up & quiet down when it comes to police
-
They have this "we're the best" propaganda tagline & seriously believe it so scapegoating is the only logical answer. Blame everyone outside
-
Shift the blame to everyone, while never looking inward. Any problem becomes someone else's problem & doesn't affect me

culture is gentrified. There is no local flavour any more. It's all McDonalds, Chilis, & WalMart in every town. One big strip mall.
-
Driving through is like a Flintstones backdrop. Every town looks the same. Same music on the radio. Same food. Same ugly, everywhere.
-
Every town has an environmental disaster. The old mine, old chemical plant, old mill. It was the town's main employer too. Main polluter
-
"Once the old (insertenvironmentallydevastatingindustryhere) shut down, folks've had trouble finding work, the heart of the town/city died."
-
welfare & social services are a dirty & offensive concept. Helping other People is frowned upon. If you work, work to the death.
-
Whatever social services there are, it's like pulling teeth to get at them. For some reason, helping People is really wrong in their system.
-
Most People just take it though. There's no fight in them. Whatever the plan is, they'll put their heads down & take it. Move along
-
Most of the People are terrifyingly uneducated. I met one guy while working on the railroad, & all he talked about was Animals he ate
-
I think I met one sober person while I was there. Most everyone was an alcoholic/drug/food/sex/pleasure addict. I don't blame 'em really
-
From every angle, they are oppressed. They are mostly psychologically oppressed. They're forced/coerced into this lifestyle. Seriously.
-
The only relief from this oppressive system is when they get home from work, crack a beer, smoke a bowl, & wait for it tomorrow.
-
They're so oppressed they don't even realize they are. They oppress each other. Hate each other. It's a bizarre state of affairs
