The Raise the Wage Act is a step in the right direction, but it’s long overdue. The federal government and Congress have been most responsible for holding workers back by not passing a min. wage increase since 2007. The tipped wage of $2.13/hr has been frozen since 1996.
I’ve worked a waitress job and remember leaving an entire shift with $10 in tips some days. Even if it was the law, no one was leveling me up to the minimum wage because they knew they didn’t have to.

I used to deliver pizza for $5.85 an hour (or w/e the old min. wage was). When it was raised to $7.25, the company decided to lower the hourly rate while we were out on deliveries, effectively keeping it at the old rate. #RaiseTheWage
