On October 16th, 2019, student representatives from MFOL planned to speak at the MSD Commission meeting in Orlando. Without warning, the Commission intentionally adjourned the meeting before allowing public comment, a violation of FL’s Sunshine Laws.
The MSD commission currently exists without a single student, educator, person of color, or expert in disability. Although far removed from the classroom, they have put FL students in danger by negligently recommending arming teachers and further militarizing our schools.
We are fighting for the voices of students and condemn the blatant acts by the MSD Commision to disregard our voices.
That’s why we’re taking the MSD Commision to Court

This is disgusting. Every member of the MSD commission, including myself, has worked tirelessly to make Florida’s schools safe for all children. Florida’s schools have never been safer. We will continue our efforts in spite of you.
I'm so sorry Max. You have put your heart and soul into securing our schools nationwide and working with all key opinion leaders on best practices for school safety. This is nothing more than a pathetic political stunt being funded by wayward groups. Keep up your great work!

Mr. Schachter I am so sorry for your loss but I do believe MFOL should've been allowed to speak at the meeting. They lived through the trauma that took away Alex and have valid viewpoints re. safety in schools. I do admire you stepping up and trying to help keep schools safe.
