I trust individuals’ intentions (if they’re good folks to begin with), but I don’t trust the system they’re embedded in.
I also realized recently that I don’t expect people to understand or counteract their own bias.

It's almost a shame that 1950's "loyalty to the company" because they will also return that loyalty has been chewed up — but, even then, I guess the reverse loyalty only really existed for those people with the "right" standing (therefore privilege)
