Our preprint exploring the evolution of DNA methylation across arthropods is out. Insights from understudied groups such as chelicerates particularly crucial. Led by Sam Lewis in an extremely enjoyable collaboration with Frank Jiggins lab

Very pleased to see and begin to take steps to implement change. Hope to see this lead to workplaces that have not only the ability to attract, but also mechanisms in place to retain, a diverse and positive workforce

Alvaro was one of the reasons, why my postdoc was so awesome! Discussions about cell fate transitions, enhancers and life, always thoughtful and to the point! Having him as a mentor will mean you get fantastic training in a beautiful place!

Just spoke to Kangaroo Island Wildlife Park. They estimate that at least half the island's koalas have died, many many more horrifically injured. The island's koalas were Australia's 'insurance population' as they were not affected by chlamydia.

The more we embrace arrogance, the less we can appreciate the world around us. It takes humility to maintain our sense of wonder - realizing that there are things bigger than us and that we can’t understand. And, sense of wonder is what brings joy to discovery.

While the sequential differentiation program of motor neurons is conserved between human and mouse, the tempo is 2-3 times slower in human. The slower tempo is due to slower protein degradation rates in human cells. Candidate of my favorite paper in 2020!

It’s ! et al examine , how development progresses at different speeds in different species Regulatory elements and signalling levels do not explain temporal scaling Cell cycle and protein kinetics are key
