The Portuguese met service @ipma_pt have named #StormEmma, bringing strong winds to the Portuguese coast on Wednesday. Emma may then bring strong winds and heavy snow to parts of the UK during Thursday and Fridaypic.twitter.com/1pU1ApgHr7

Keeping a very close eye on this system. Potential for prolonged blizzard conditions. Confidence: 70% for Thurs/Fri ?????

I've heard ppl say all this is a fuss over nothing yada yada, but sure the scientific evidence of a large chance of it happening is there, swirling around on screens and charts.

Do you think the UK Met Office will name the storm given possible substantial impacts?

Hi Olly, now that #StormEmma has been named by a national meteorological service the low pressure system will retain it's name as it crosses international borders. We will therefore be referring to it as Storm Emma

So we’ve got the beast from the east and then a possible storm from the south? This is Europe inadvertently pissing on us again over Brexit 😂

It should be #StormHector, if it warrants an Amber. Germany will give it their own name. Ophelia, okay, that was an ex hurricane but the UK/Eire list is in tatters if we use Emma for a low. #nameOURstorms
