1. Recently watched the @ContraPoints video on Degeneracy. Primary focus of the video aside, Contra has a *very* short section on Nietzsche. Who according to Contra is a "dead German asshole" and "every edgy 19 year old's favourite philosopher."

2. Now admittedly ‘edgy 19 year olds’ and ‘edgy Hollywood’ have taken Nietzsche for their own, concentrating largely on ‘God is Dead’, which they misconstrue as a literal deceased Deity (who has been killed) as opposed to the death of a system of morality and value.

3. Contra continues to talk about Nietzsche’s philosophy in binary terms: Slave morality and Master Morality. With SJWs being put under the ‘slave’ section and ‘Aristocratic’ and ‘Strong’ under the Master.

4. Arguably, legitimate social justice claims arising from original PoV’s would be something Nietzsche would be in favour of . That is, completely thinking for oneself, whether or not your view ends up in agreement with the herd, as long as you attained those views yourself.

5. Contra briefly mentions a fascist interpretation of ‘Master morality’ as casting off ‘slave morality’, any fascist interpretations of Nietzsche have been delegitimized since Kaufman’s Nietzsche.

6. Yes, edgy 19 year olds * have * taken Nietzsche for their own in the mainstream, yet external to the misreadings of ‘God is dead’, ‘The Blond Beast’ and ‘The Master Race’ is sublime philosophy that moves away from schematic truths and multiple historic notions of ‘truth’.

7. Not to mention the poetry, the commentary on Europe, the Will to Power, the critique of appearance, eternal recurrence, commentary on art, the psychological aspects of amor fati, respective continuation of Schopenhauer & Kant and more.

8. In short, it’s a shame Nietzsche has the image of an ‘edgelord’ but Contra only extrapolating to the fact that he’s been taken by ‘edgelords’ is a shame. Especially from someone who’s known to have a background in philosophy.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9BlNGZunYM8 … video in question. Actually, using Nietzsche's comments on decadence would have made for interesting debate in terms of modernism vs transgression (roughly.)
