Consumerism and modern advertising makes a tad more difficult for the easily swayed, for sure. But ultimately those who exist within a culture rife with great advice and data and refuse to utilize it for fear of losing their blessed hedonism have only themselves to blame. -

There are situations where it's tougher to acquire these things, but there is no situation where you HAVE to undertake that which is knowingly to your detriment. Looking after oneself via basic scientific principles - wellness - is not Capitalist propaganda -

The criteria for creating a life of potential, health and examination would exist in roughly the same manner under any other system. That is, just because the your Utopia has arrived doesn't mean you'll suddenly feel good.

I said the choice of what you consume is largely yours and if you continue to consume that which is proven to make you feel awful well, what you gonna do? The same stuff will make you feel shit under any agenda, neoliberal or otherwise.
-
Agreed, but the pressure to consume bad things, in the broadest possible sense, is far greater today than any other epoch. Libidinal engineering is one of the things Capitalism does best. The choice is perhaps the same, but the difficulty is not.
