Treading Carefully 0.1: Continuing from yesterday's thread on the definitions of the Acc strands, it was - roughly - agreed that the contention between the 2 currently deadlocked camps (U/Acc & R/Acc) is in actuality a question of free will -

      - the former U/Acc take unconditionality with regards to acceleration as a priori, and thus do not adhere to the notion of free will wrt humans (or the universe), as such that which happens...happens, what will be will be. Personal opinion: Does this not make U/Acc nihilism?

U/Acc no doubt has nihilistic traits but I really don’t get where you’re getting the free will point from. I’ve never understood it to be absolute. Of course we have free will but that’s not the same as saying that *everything* bends to that will.

Those who were commenting in the thread yesterday were making it seem extremely deterministic. To the point wherein there is no difference between steel and humans in the production of nukes.

free will is a necessary assumption of limited practical reason. also, there's no reason why the absence of any substantial free will would entail determinism in its hard form.

I think the talk is more about the effectivity of human agency than simply free will. even from the subjective point of view (which already assumes free will), trying to control capital and steer it prove to be ineffective

another way to put things is in the schism between consciousness and the unconscious (which leads us to Bakker vs Negarestani)

anyway, in putting things in terms of steering capital for its own good, it already leaves the horrorist take and anything that used to be covered by "r/acc" in 2014.
