Village Green Conservatism patch when? "Where Somerset leads the world follows."https://twitter.com/xenogothic/status/1019226898403119104 …

Agreement on a localised system of disintegration and a right of exit might stop people settling their differences with doing a murder.
-
I think that's an interesting idea. Though all the Midsomer towns are prefixed with Midsomer, so perhaps each episode is simply a failed patch? Many ITV-esque shows ran for 20+ years but remained in the same time (60s etc), perhaps their temporal stagnation fried their minds.
-
I think the Midsomer prefix is what makes them patch like. Distinct locations all part of the same county. A literal patchwork of interconnected but disparate locales.
-
Would that mean that after each murder each MS-patch is left to rot? 10s (if not 100s) of post-apocalyptic failed rural towns filled with Village Green extras acting out a recurrent script?
-
I don't think so. There's no reason why a patch would have to fail after a murder. Patchwork isn't a solution for stopping crime. Metaphorically, tho, murder can instead become exile (rather than exit) as perceived against the transcendental boundary of the county of Midsomer.
-
The Midsomer-Patchwork then, is a patchwork of microscopically-varying MS-patches, in which a new patch is founded upon the difference of only 1 or 2 people. There's little ideological difference. A new Village Green Conservative patch but this time sans Windy Miller.
