Rather than criticizing an individual’s choice on how much of their identity to publicly share, we should be focusing on publishing’s tendency to favor writers who are or appear to be cis het.

In December, I scheduled top surgery for May 4. I’ve been planning my life around the date.
Tonight, the surgery got canceled, 8.5 hours before I was due to check in.
We’ll reschedule and it’ll be fine. I’m just really sad right now.
