Such an incredible interview! “That's why it's so important to gather inspiration, read interesting books and explore subjects outside your profession, that's what makes you able to create interesting things in your profession.”

A stunning interview with Jesper Kouthoofd, the CEO of Teenage Engineering. There are so many quotes that I found inspiring. Some spoke to me a lot, i.e.: “many things are basically the same in different disciplines.” Must read: scandinavianmind.com/feature/human-

Passkeys are really cool 😎

Today we rolled out Passkeys globally on @shop. Besides being more secure it allowed us to make what we thought was close to a perfect experience even better. If you liked Shop Pay before you’re going to love it now.

I’m going to clean my bike but I’m pretty sure that it is going to get dirty next day 😂 I’m looking for a bike cleaning kit that doesn’t include any harmful chemicals for the environment. Any suggestions?

The future of transportation isn’t the #Hyperloop or self-driving cars. It’s the bus, the bike, & the elevator. Via @slate AND it’s better land-use & infrastructure decisions, reprioritizing space & budgets, accessible streets, & smart pricing mechanisms. slate.com/technology/201

I enjoy being a Directly Responsible Individual (DRI) in a project. I don’t know why it’s not very common in the industry. Knowing all the details about the project, aligning with all the stakeholders and answering all the questions from your team members is so much fun!

If you think that your company would not follow the proper process for a layoff, with just 5 people you can establish a work council (Betriebsrat). Then, the company would need to negotiate with you before the layoff. You can also get an advice from the big unions in Germany.

Some companies create multiple small companies for their products. Like X GmbH, X Events GmbH, X Marketing GmbH and so on. With that, they can move the development to the main company and fire all the developers at X Events GmbH because there is “no work” for them anymore.

Also, if the companies follow the normal process, they use the social scoring system. Meaning if you are married, have kids, long tenured and older, it is almost impossible to get fired. (If you didn’t have any performance improvement plan before.)

If you live in Germany, make sure that you have an insurance for legal protection. Also, don’t sign any paper before talking with a lawyer. Normally, it is very hard to fire people in Germany. There shouldn’t be any work for you at the company.

Just finished watching The War for Football. It was remarkable to see how the business behind the football industry works. I do believe that the current football industry is not sustainable and requires revolution but that revolution needs support from all the clubs.

I read Meditations by Marcus Aurelius almost every month. I wanted to have something with me that reminds me all the teachings there so I bought this medallion. I carry it everywhere. “You could leave life right now. Let that determine what you do and say and think.”

Echo 3 is a must watch. You feel like you are watching a movie when there is a rescue mission. Super tense.

After his tweet, I just told that moved their app to React Native after the decision. The app is one of the most popular shopping apps in the US and all the screens are written in React Native. He just blocked me 🤷🏻‍♂️

I’ve decided to record all the items that I’m going to buy this year so I can easily calculate the carbon impact of my shopping behavior. Already looking forward to see the results. :)

Whenever I see a beautiful website, it is always designed by a designer from Sweden. Those great designers are one of the biggest reasons why I’m thinking about moving to Sweden time to time. Seriously, what’s their secret? How can I learn from them?
