I was at Greenmont Elementary School in Vienna, WV when my teacher heard a plane hit the World Trade Center. The class TV was turned on & we watched a confusing & horrific scene unfold Later we’d find out that a girl who once roamed the halls of our school died on the 89th floor
Mary Lou Hague was homecoming queen and chased her dreams to NYC. She was my age now when she died
She wasn’t the only small town girl lost on that beautiful September day
Thinking of so many sons, daughters, moms, & dads from across the US who won’t get to go home again
