okay so a lot of (rich, white) folks are freaking out about what a 70% tax rate on the wealthy would look like and they’re scared about it and shit (even though it’s literally what rich baby boomers already dealt with). SO LET’S DO THE MATH.

15 years ago, we used to go skiing and make snowmen in December. In January 2019, we're walking in the mud wondering when winter will start and if we'll be able to ski this year. Plateau des Glières - French Alps - Alt 1450 m - 03/01/2019

INSANE. Beyond short-sighted and greedy – murderous and suicidal. Scroll through the list at this link to see the full breadth of horrendous environmental rollbacks, and get mad enough to fight back. A selection of the most absurd is pasted in this thread.

We make a mistake when we think of climate change as one of many political issues. It isn’t. It’s the whole thing. Our planet is our only home. If we don’t limit further harm, alter our behavior and develop resilience as the climate changes, we doom our species.

It's hard being someone who's aiming for a PhD but ultimately interested in the world of education and outreach/science communication. People really don't seem to get it bc they only connect advanced degrees to academic jobs. They struggle to see how I'm not wasting my time.

Periodic reminder that water is a chemical. So is table salt. "Chemical" doesn't mean "unnatural." This may be a pet peeve, but in these days of science denialism and rejecting observable fact in favor of trendy rumor, it's important.
