Prince did die without a will, but had at least 1 will in the past, as would be expected given his focus on ownership & control of his work.

It's not so unusual that Prince might have voided or destroyed a will, as his relationships changed & he regained control over his catalog.

Also, it's hard to overstate how much Prince disliked contracts; countless people who worked for him, sometimes for years, with no contract.
