Got our old DSLR (Rebel XSi) going as a webcam, and I appreciate the ~AESTHETIC~ but it’s hard to get it really close to the screen like a built-in webcam is. I have a WEBINAR in a couple weeks so might use it for that but not for daily meetingspic.twitter.com/qfjKXX0scT
Here’s the same lighting and everything but with built-in MacBook webcam. Not sure the DSLR is worth the effort (Camera Live -> Camtwist -> Zoom, plus having to keep a battery ready for the camera)pic.twitter.com/AKeSkXUYrP

Of course Twitter has now re-encoded both of those so they look nothing like the originals.
but you get the idea. I like non-infinite depth of field thoShow this threadThanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo

I have the same general approach - I use my mirrorless camera when doing presentations, recordings, etc, but I don't use them for regular video calls. also, you'd have better results if you didn't have that bright window behind you, but I suspect you know that :)

Yeah, there’s blinds I didn’t bother closing. I’m surprised it worked at all, it’s the generation of Canon DSLR right before they had video (which also means no constant autofocus!). It _does_ go straight USB though, no HDMI adapter!
