my least favorite thing about the youths is that they adopted a social network that is utterly unsearchable where is their generation's appreciation for metadata do they know how many days of my life I spent making sure my fandom content on tumblr was being indexed properly

I like to think that it’s fluidity in identity mapped to online spaces which feels healthy? but at the same time I’m used to usernames being universal and forever so it’s weird!

ah! I mean growing up, I changed my IM username at least a dozen times same for tumblr so I don't think this is something the ~kids~ do, just something people under 35 or so do? the only username I haven't changed is twitter because it is literally my name

I regret not using “richtext” everywhere back when doing so was actually feasible, especially for twitter and LJ. these days I’m using my second choice “wlonkly” more than “mendel” anyway it seems, “mendel” is popular
