Now that ~all software engineers are WFH, does anyone have advice on how to determine whether (a) you should upgrade your network hardware (b) you should upgrade your Internet plan (new ISP seems hard during coronavirus?) (c) you're SOL when it comes to better Internet

I mean I've been wfh for 3 years in Las Vegas (comparatively bad internet) and Minneapolis (comparatively good) and I've not had any like...crazy problems or need for Gb bandwidth or anything like that. Biggest wfh issue is "I'm not really interested in my job rn so anime is ++"

context is that I'm fine (I do have gigabit!) but if you work with enough folks, and suddenly they are all WFH (https://stripe.com/newsroom/news/covid-19 …), a few will inevitably have snafus. Hence the interest in a debugging toolkit!

If Zoom is the pain point, its own statistics panel (preferences -> statistics -> (audio, video)) aren’t a terrible place to start. Might need some interpretation but it gives you the important metrics. (Wish it had timeseries.)pic.twitter.com/SQjUxfuOwj
