it's still an improvement. my old last name was "munroe", which everyone assumes is spelled "monroe" (sometimes even after i spell it), and once i said "munroe, with a U" and there was a long pause and then "so... m-o-n-r-u-e?" istg americans can only spell like 3 names

My last name has literally four different spelling variations because Scotland, so it’s inevitable people will write it wrong My legal first name is a Greek dictionary word, there is objectively only one spelling, but people get it wrong all the time

having a last name that starts with “La” in Quebec was always fun because people would start in French Mode and then reach the two Fs and have to backtrack
