one hand: always appreciate people posting their comp other hand: deeply annoying that every time it happens, it devolves into people in SF (or working for a rare SF startup that doesn't adjust much based on location) telling people in far-flung places they're underpaid

it is a true statement that you can sometimes make 2x local salaries by working remotely for a company in SF/NYC! but even then, the salary will more likely than not be adjusted based on location so nowhere near what SF people tweeting rn make unfortunate, but reality

nope, I looked around, went “wait what am I doing”, and bailed
went back to an engineering role in a startup (then ended up making it to director, then went back to an engineering role…)
