We do ALBs. We've done 1 and it's stupid.

What about a plain VM with haproxy or nginx?

that’s exactly what I’m trying to avoid! want something fire-and-forget and serverless (and specifically want ACM certs) — which i can hide inside an opinionated terraform module. if I have to think about OSes and versions and userdata and ASGs i’ve lost

If you just need 3xx redirects I have a quick hack for 1 that works.

Sure, I'll bite! What's your quick hack?

The cloudfront -> Lambda@edge might be the most versatile option. I never quite liked the smell of Cloudfront -> S3 routing rules thing. I dunno, no good options. (tang. related: for basic hosting/redirect stuff I quite like firebase these days, can be fronted by CF if needed)

Yeah, the annoying part there is that terraform takes like an hour to set up a distribution with ACM, it BOTHERS me. (also I’d be “forced” to write a lambda configured from dynamodb or something… then a frontend for editing dynamodb…)

Had a similar need recently and landed on cloudflare workers, so cloud front + lambda at edge seems like the similar choice.
-
In cloudflare plain old page rules make these sort of 3xx redirects so simple, I love it!
