Is it true that there's no way to tell if an iPhone is fast-charging vs. regular charging? (There used to at least be a double-ding when you plugged an iPhone into a fast-charging-capable charger, but even that's gone in recent iOS versions.) What's the rationale of not telling?

The iOS 13 “Optimized Battery Charging” feature is tangentially related to this discussion. It learns to not do fast charging (which decreases battery life), when slow charging is appropriate (you’re at home and asleep)https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT210512

ah, and that’s a decent reason for not displaying the charge rate, so as to avoid people wondering why their fast charger is not fast charging their phone overnight.
