My two most hated grammar trends of the past twenty years are: 1. “Gift” as a transitive verb 2. Omitting “-ed” from past tense forms of single-syllable verbs ending in “t” (e.g. “I’ve pet that dog”) and I know it’s a bleak inevitability that they will combine soon.
