How did the newbie get stuck writing so many of the tests? What's the difference between a mock and a stub? What is this code even doing??

Thanks for everyone's responses to my "I'm going crazy" questions. I think I may just need a senior dev to sit with me and walk me through some of the more complicated code and tests. I really have such little idea of what I'm doing.

I came into development from an ops background, and still have a hard time figuring out how big a unit test is and what the difference between a mock and a stub is, and always have to look up how to actually mock or stub things, especially when switching languages
