For folks who have done on-call, when on-call do you expect alerts/support calls to alert you to all events that need to be handled?

moooostly? with our split between Eastern and Pacific time I have found myself getting involved in slack pre-incidents that are during PT workdays (ET evenings) so they don’t become PT evening/ET overnight incidents also i’m terrible for going “huh, that looks funny”

but! when other people on my team are on-call I don’t expect _them_ to discover events that need handling outside of alerts/pointed questions from other devs
