For folks who have done on-call, when on-call do you expect alerts/support calls to alert you to all events that need to be handled?

moooostly? with our split between Eastern and Pacific time I have found myself getting involved in slack pre-incidents that are during PT workdays (ET evenings) so they don’t become PT evening/ET overnight incidents also i’m terrible for going “huh, that looks funny”

Hm, I can try? I think I’ve internalized enough about our infrastructure that I can tell when it’s “running rough” without a specific alert or direct request from other engineers about something being wrong 1/
