Whenever I visit Halifax, coming back to Toronto really makes me want to move to Halifax. Also true for Vancouver, but a little less so because it’s such a ridiculously expensive place to live, and while I love Vancouver’s pace, I love Halifax (and Nova Scotia’s) scale.

Halifax also has the advantage of being near
@nyxie’s family and not _too_ far from mine in Eastern Ontario, where Vancouver is just… far from everyone. But the family thing is a challenge, especially since I am Mom’s only kid.1 reply 0 retweets 1 likeShow this thread -
The work thing is complicated too. I love my distributed team at PagerDuty and they’re _very_ open to remote work, but I don’t know if _I_ am, and I worry that remote folks have less influence than those in the office everyday.

At Red Hat, our remote engineers have significant influence. It's hard for me to say if it's less than in-office, but I feel like my remote coworkers and I have influence. If you start to shop around, give me a shout, we have tons of openings at RH doing interesting stuff :)

yeah, no plans to shop around yet (even if I did move it’d be “move, remote for PD, then shop around only when it was a natural time to move on”) but i would totally do so and appreciate the offer :)
