Incidentally, on the subject of PHB: After a year and a half (!!) at @PagerDuty back in an SRE role, I have to say I made the right call to step out of management (at least for now). Great team, great company, interesting work, so much less _worry_.

So being able to take what I learned about running a business and managing a team, and use that every day while actually doing things to computers, and doing it in a healthy environment with a good work-life balance, that’s pretty awesome.

I wish more managers who came up from technical would step back and find a leadership role on the technical track. We lose a lot of raw capability to the rewards of a management path.
