  1. I was tagged in this on IG (Body Paint, 2009, currently in ) & it reminded me of the Whirling Dervishes, & how they spin to become one with god. It turns out their hearts actually synchronize, they literally beat as one (wrote more at

  2. The 1896 Lumière Brothers classic "Arrival of a Train at La Ciotat" upscaled to 4K, 60fps, and colorised.

  3. Maybe this 👇is the real as we try to build intelligent machines in our own image (by mostly white dudes) (And yes, I still see metaphors everywhere)

I'm not sure Richard Feynman would agree :)

  9. Odgovor korisniku/ci

here is a brilliant talk on exponential growth :)

  10. Odgovor korisniku/ci

    It's funny because it's true!

  11. This is probably why I'm more interested in & diversifying the training set of an artificial neural network. If you train a on X you'll get more X. That can be fun, but if you train on carefully selected X & Y & Z & ??, the output is more likely to be more unique!

  12. There were of course many other inspirations, but these are the key ones. I guess one conclusion I can draw is, the more varied inspirations you can pour into the melting pot that is your brain, the more likely the output will be more unique (and arguably, more 'you').

  14. I'd always wanted to learn , & there's nothing like a project & a deadline to force you to learn. We saw 👇by & it was ❤️at first sight. We were lucky enough to fly him over to give us a 2 week crash course & help start the prj.

  15. Demo scene gurus like Matt "Smash" Swoboda was killing it in realtime etc, but we saw 👇 by (emfluid by Eric "mootzoid" for ) & thought YES, we need some of that HIGHEND VFX. (Realtime couldnt reach this Q in 2011)

  16. At the time (2010-2011) my work was already motion studies driven (with lots of particles & fluids :) but 2D or *realtime* 3D (v diff to high end 3D). e.g. similarly with Quayola

  17. We decided to invent imaginary fictitious universes in which the laws of physics & space & time are different (but similar) to ours, & we would place each movement in such a universe. We would design each universe (for each movement) to amplify the qualities of the movements

  18. These 👆visualised motion trajectories, most over a century ago! So we didn't want to just do that, but we wanted to extrapolate & dramatise. A key inspiration came from Marcel Duchamp's "Nude descending a staircase no 2" (1912), which in turn was openly inspired by Muybridge...
