No it’s not. I want to make sure I’m consuming content that doesn’t threaten the livelihood of trans folk or marginalized communities. Or content from an editor that petitioned to ‘take the L out of LGBT’. Why the hell would I want to patronize a publication like that?
-
reading an opinion that is different than yours is not "threatening livelihood" it's just a part of life.
-
respecting the livelihood&right to humanity for marginalized communities IS NOT an opinion. How can you say that? Especially when the writing supports rhetoric that leads to trans folk getting killed! Your logic supports giving homophobia, antisemitism, racism, etc a platform
-
and no, words don't lead to murder. if that were true then I'd be dead by now because I get a lot of "die cis scum" and "die terf" in my inbox.
-
Words kill people. Words enact legislation that blocks healthcare, job possibilities, anti discrimination measures, housing. Words lead to attitudes & systems of beliefs that “other” and diminish humanity. As an editor, I’m astonished you don’t realize the power words have.
-
words are powerful, but no, words do not kill people.
