It’s not technical reasons that make Trump calling COVID-19 “#ChineseVirus” wrong. It’s the clear race-baiting implications, incitement of xenophobia, & fueling of racism. My heart breaks for our Asian American community who have been unfairly targeted by racist attacks #COVID19
Nah he’s doing it as the POTUS aware of attacks on those of Asian descent (many Asian countries have done far better than the U.S. at containing the virus btw). He wants to direct anger at Chinese gov’t, fine.
But he is knowingly throwing all things and people Chinese (or even simply resembling Chinese) into it by association — hence fueling the fire of xenophobia and anti-Asian sentiment
