i doubt I'll ever be able to afford a kid, but beyond that--so long as the world is so outright cruel, i would never bring a child into it to suffer. it's more than just a financial feasibility thing for me at least.

Definitely this too. A lot of would-be parents I know are also really concerned about raising a child today, knowing that a global climate crisis will be in their future.

It's bananas how much more affordable it is for me and my partner to foster. Govt insurance for our kiddo, food assistance for him, daycare provided, clothing allowance - this is exactly the kind of support every family should have!!

In Illinois at least, it's easier to get assistance and support as a foster parent than as a biological parent which doesn't make sense. There's a shift (long overdue) to focusing on keeping families intact and upping services but our previous governor
