Yesterday, we announced a new set of sanctions targeting the Iranian regime.
Canada will continue to hold the Iranian regime accountable for its gross human rights violations— because impunity is not an option.
Today is dark day for women around the world.
This reversal of decades of hard fought gains will endanger the lives of women across the United States and jeopardize further rights.
We must remember that no country is immune: Your voice matters. Your vote matters.
Russia is solely responsible for this crisis and their actions will not go unpunished. Canada has one of the strongest sanctions package being imposed today, and together with our Allies, we are imposing severe costs to the Russian regime and the Russian economy.
The Iranian regime’s continued breach of international law are well known and documented, including its blatant disregard for human life.
Canada will always stand with the victims of this regime— and that’s why we’re imposing new sanctions on Iranian individuals and entities.
For the first time, Canada will seize and pursue the forfeiture of assets worth $26M belonging to an oligarch sanctioned for his complicity in Putin’s war of choice in Ukraine.
