Are new memories always hippocampally dependent? , Erik Wing, Jen Ryan, & Asaf Gilboa review evidence for rapid memory formation in cortex, and discuss when and how such memories can be formed

Our recent paper on cross-frequency coupling. Here we argue that when high gamma amplitude of one signal is coupled to theta phase of another, neural transmission goes from first to second signal.

How do we form associations between objects, faces and scenes? and I show that associations with scenes are better remembered, even when the scene isn't presented at test and is fixated as much as faces. Now out in Learning & Memory:

Do eye movements play a functional role in memory retrieval? Check out our new review with and Jen Ryan where we argue that eye movements support memory retrieval by reinstating the spatiotemporal context of encoding.

Now published: remote temporal context vs. item memory for a real-world event across a lifespan sample. We manipulated the order and distance of pictures from the event + lures from a similar event. Item memory declined with age, context memory didn't!
