I think you need to reread my tweet. 1. Stealing mail is something the DA can prosecute. See Penal Code Sec 530.5(e), which is state, not federal law. 2. I said stealing mail can be serious bc oftentimes it leads to identity theft (also wi the purview of the DA)

Now just to explain things, mail theft fall within the same general penal code section as identity theft (ask yourself logically why someone would steal mail). That assumption put to the side, there are different subsections delineated. Mail theft is a separate crime that the DA

Can charge. If the evidence is there, the DA can charge BOTH mail theft and identity theft.

Also did you see the New Yorker article? SFPD is at about 2% arrest rate, and they let the Walgreens thief go at least once prior to the video, partly Walgreens wouldn’t press charges. That New Yorker article is a big win for justice reform.

This is silly. You don’t actually know what you’re talking about. You don’t read your own links, which talk about local law enforcement. Its not complicated. You can have a state law and a federal law. A person can be charged for violating the state law, but not the federal law

And vice versa. A good example is MJ. At one pt, sale of MJ was BOTH a state AND federal crime. NOW in CA, it’s only a federal crime. Here is an article where local police dept in the Bay arrested for mail theft. These arrests are made and convictions are obtained.

But I’m not going to keep arguing with you bc you’re not trying to learn, you’re trying to prove me wrong, but I actually know what I’m talking about and you should look into the things I’m saying before disputing them.

1 case vs 12,000? You count like a Republican. I didn’t post an article. I posted a document. The law. The United States law. Not an op ed.

Lmao. You don’t understand the law. You don’t read your own document that you tweet. You didn’t read/look into the penal code. It’s a losing battle - for you. Look, defend Chesa all you want that’s your prerogative, but at this pt your willfully being ignorant about the law
