How helpless it feels to only have thoughts and prayers to offer a community and a country that deserve much more. My heart is with those in Poway today. I have hope for a kinder, more peaceful future, met with action and legislation. We are with you today, and everyday.

2019 is not an off-year!! The 2020 presidential primary isn't the only important election (or even the most important election) in the next 18 months!! You can do things right fucking now to help elect Democrats across the country!!

We know the outlines to comprehensive immigration reform. A pathway to citizenship, a level of protection for dreamers, a set of reforms to clear up the bureaucracy, and reasonable measures on border security. We know what to do. We don’t have the leadership in D.C to do it.

Twenty years ago, when I was 17, the shootings at Columbine broke America’s heart. Today’s high schoolers have seen the same kind of horror at Parkland and elsewhere. If we don’t want to repeat this in 20 years, we must summon the courage to deliver common-sense gun reform.

Thankful to have so much support and attention for 2020, but let’s not overlook 2019 state and local candidates like these. We can’t treat the presidency like it’s the only office that matters.

So proud to have Chasten out there on the trail connecting with and hearing from queer communities of color and standing up for those in our community who’s voices are marginalized.
