I mean, if you’re still a self-identified member of ‘Trump’s inner circle’ in the fall of *2022* maybe you should take a long hard look at your life choices.
Quote Tweet
Dark time in Trump's inner circle. Spoke to several longtime friends, donors, and aides in the past 24 hours. Many say he's listening to very few people, isolated, and meanspirited about his potential rivals. Several of them say they're tired of his rants and are avoiding him.

As Twitter heads for possible bankruptcy, and endures daily chaos and controversy, the new owner is taking some time out to debate insulin pricing with Senator Bernie Sanders. As you do.

Full answer to insulin price question is complex. Short answer is that original insulin, discovered in 1921 (not 1923), is inexpensive, costing as little as $25. New, higher efficacy analog variants of insulin are more expensive. @CommunityNotes time.com/6076709/walmar

Let's be clear. Eli Lilly should apologize for increasing the price of insulin by over 1,200% since 1996 to $275 while it costs less than $10 to manufacture. The inventors of insulin sold their patents in 1923 for $1 to save lives, not to make Eli Lilly's CEO obscenely rich.

We apologize to those who have been served a misleading message from a fake Lilly account. Our official Twitter account is @LillyPad.

Did Josh Shapiro have a stroke? Did Shapiro get outspent by millions? Did Shapiro have a celebrity opponent? Did Shapiro try to flip a GOP seat? Come on, the comparison is not just unfair but ridiculous. Shapiro & Fetterman both ran great races and both won great victories.
Quote Tweet
Fetterman did great. But he also ran 9 points behind Josh Shapiro. Maybe that's because Shapiro was seen as more moderate than Fetterman or maybe it's because Mastriano was seen as more extreme than Oz. But either way, Pennsylvania confirms the power of the middle of the road twitter.com/anatosaurus/st…

Mandela outspent by $25 million with unrelenting barrage of fear mongering ads that darkened his skin and called him dangerous that went unanswered. Yet he came w/in 1 pt. Feingold lost by almost 5pts, having previously been elected and thus - by def - electable.

As you see discourse on how to recreate Fetterman, recall that the establishment deemed him too leftie and desperately wanted Lamb. So, as a step one, how about we put an axe through “electability” and recall that the middle of the road is where you get run over.

One of the largest food safety companies in the U.S., Packers Sanitation Services, illegally employed more than two dozen children, the Labor Department found. Some were as young as 13, and several suffered chemical burns from corrosive cleaners.

Remember how Trump stole classified documents from the White House, lied about it, and compromised our national security and allies? Don't worry about it. We've all forgotten and nothing happened to him. Oh well.

Trump sends out a fundraising email that appears to be for the remaining three GOP Senate candidates with races uncalled. But if you click through, the only joint fundraising committee is Walkers. Click through again, Trump takes 9/10 of the $ (unless you change the ratio)

A woman wept with joy as she embraced a Ukrainian soldier after Russia formally announced its retreat from villages along the Kherson front in southern Ukraine. The move puts Kyiv on the cusp of achieving one of its most significant victories of the war. nyti.ms/3UNGCpD

Serious question: is it that easy to become the richest man in the world? 🤔
Quote Tweet
Lol: Twitter sent an HR email to every laid off employee acknowledging it's late getting people their separation agreements and release of claims. But the company messed up the BCC and it has become a reply-all catastrophe.

Do you define the Santa Monica Observer as ‘citizen journalism’? You still haven’t explained how you ended up tweeting a link to its bonkers homophobic conspiracy and then quietly deleting it?

As Twitter pursues the goal of elevating citizen journalism, media elite will try everything to stop that from happening

It didn't help that the national Democratic Party abandoned him, and let Johnson flood the airwaves with nakedly racist ads while Barnes was powerless to respond in kind. Barnes also failed to clearly and aggressively define Johnson as the extremist he is.

An unpopular but needed take— CANDIDATES DO NOT SIMPLY GAIN AND SHED VOTES AS THEIR POLICY POSITIONS MOVE CLOSER TO OR FURTHER FROM THE MEDIAN VOTER

An unpopular but needed take— Dems would have won this seat if we nominated a mainstream Democrat who never wore an Abolish ICE shirt, flirted with defunding the police, or appeared on Russian state TV to trash America

One of the great failures of our media in this country is the regular both sides-ing of ‘far left’ and ‘far right’ as some sort of matching counterparts. The far right cozies up to Nazis and incites political violence. The far left wants Medicare for All and a Green New Deal.

Compare this to NY. And keep in mind Philly has had one of the largest homicide increases in the country. Again, I don’t know *why* it was so much higher salience in NY, but it clearly was.

This is stupid and false. There are almost 100,000 votes left to be counted (at least). Laxalt is up by 9000 votes. The biggest chunks of votes remaining are in counties where Cortez Masto is ahead. Of course there's a mathematical way Laxalt loses.

Lindsey Graham suggested on NRSC call yesterday that fraud in NV would be the only way GOP loses. “There is no mathematical way Laxalt loses,” Graham said. “If he does, then it’s a lie.” politico.com/news/2022/11/1

This is a misguided thread (and I’m not a Milley fan). Modern wars almost never end with decisive victories. They end in negotiated settlements. Supporting Ukraine also means being honest (not pressuring them) about when is the optimal time for them to negotiate.
Quote Tweet
🧵 “Gen. Milley, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs, has made the case that the Ukrainians have achieved about as much as they could reasonably expect on the battlefield before winter sets in & so they should try to cement their gains at the bargaining table.” nytimes.com/2022/11/10/us/

1. Democracy can be on the ballot, and citizens can, in fact, respond to that. 2. Parties need to suffer thorough defeats, over and over, before they will reform. The GOP - which turned into a loony seditionist movement - isn't done learning this lesson, but we're getting there.

The result was weird enough to prop many theories, but come on. Obvious takeaway is that it was Dobbs, democracy, and GOP candidates being crazy. The people who said to focus on this seem to have been right, the people fixated on inflation, gas, policy seem to have been wrong.
