All right friends, going to acknowledge that my flesh is very weak when it comes to getting drawn into Twitter scuffles. So I’m going to take a break until the end of January except to post some work related stuff. Book deadline looms!

To clarify this a little bit, I’m asking about doctrinally, not legally. I know that the law may allow the pastor not to provide the information. But doctrinally, would there be any justification for not giving the prosecutor any information you have?

Question for those who know Baptist doctrinal stuff better than I do— is clergy-penitent privilege a thing in SBC? Like if a pastor has info regarding abuse committed by someone connected to church, could he claim privilege when asked by a prosecutor for that information?
