A very cheap bench plane that kind of sucks a lot and I really want to get a quality one like tomorrow Homemade big mallet from oak Bit brace and some drills for it Square Marking gauge Upcycled marking knife from a kitchen knife a la Paul Sellershttps://youtu.be/l_vHb1gMwIE

I’m beginning furniture making since last year and here’s what I’m working on right now, a small table to practice mortise and tenon joints and develop the style for some larger pieces I want to make for our homepic.twitter.com/d05vH1t9vu

Another great video series is Rex Krueger’s “Woodwork for Humans” which has a special approach regarding tool use in that he introduces the fewest possible tools, e.g. check out this bench made with hatchet, saw, and bit bracehttps://youtu.be/3FKyzLYXiqw

The tiny table with a tabletop from 15mm birch plywood (a funky piece with branch pattern) and oak edges. Haven’t decided how to finish it, maybe shellac for the oak parts at least...pic.twitter.com/eQCbBOHlzX

Casually lanolizing three woolen diaper covers and ironing like 30 pieces of cotton diapers and a bunch of wipes while mentally sketching on a wooden clothes rack / ironing board / storage container to build after the kitchen tables are donepic.twitter.com/hD5gIragi2

This doesn’t look like much but it’s the first remotely proper joinery I’ve managed to do—my first table base! Gonna tweak the mortise & tenons, round the legs more, glue it together, put a thicker plywood top, and maybe finish with shellac.

Turns out carving mortises is thrilling and fun. In soft pine I'm barely even striking the chisel with a mallet, since the chisel (when sharp) slices the wood away so easily.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PfsbzjdO4_8 …

I made a pine mortise and oak tenon for practice and it was pretty okay, yay for transcending project anxiety by doing something instead of worrying about everythingpic.twitter.com/djFwEv8Pv7
