To attribute ANY scientific advances to “capitalism” or “communism” is completely absurd. NEITHER of those have anything to do with the advancement of science, which has progressed in every kind of society.

1. Are you kidding? How much scientific research goes on in Zimbabwe? To become educated and invent something you need to not be worried about starving to death, or upsetting a party apparchuk and ending in a Gulag.

How much COMMUNISM do you think goes on in Zimbabwe? How much capitalism did you think went on in the Soviet Union? The USSR was ahead of us in the Space Race (among other things) for a good while there.

A lot! It isn't capitalist, the rulers never starve and butcher anyone that opposes them. The USSR had great scientists/engineers but couldn't build a car, fridge or tank equal to those built on he West.

Uh, capitalist rulers butcher and starve people all the damn time. We already went over Leopold II and Pinochet, you want me to dig up ANOTHER list? While we’re here I could at least mention Park Chung-Hee, Chiang Kai-Shek, and late Franco

Not if there is rule of law and property rights. When they exist economic growth creates surpluses that benefit everyone. Remember over 50% of US citizens don't pay income tax, but gets Medicare and social benefits that they don't pay for.

They benefit the few in the short term, the rest get whatever splashes out of the cup And I honestly think that’s good, I hope to soon live in an America where 80% don’t pay income tax, but still get Medicare and social benefits. I mean, I guess they can pay other taxes, though

They do pay sales tax, which is regressive. But having no skin in the game is a problem. Look at it on the state level. California gets 50% of its tax revenue from 160,000 tax payers, what if 10% of them leave and go to another state?

Oh, sales tax also shouldn’t apply to food, that’s another thing. “what if 10% of them leave and go to another state?” Fuck ‘em. California’s already one of the biggest economies in the world, they’ll be fine.

2. Plus Trump's tax deal is smart, limiting the deductions from federal taxes for state income and property taxes. This will cost the 160,000 top rate tax payers in California a lit of money, upto $200k! That would make me think about leaving!

I think it’d be a lot better if the deductions were only cancelled for those 160,000 people, though
