The best doctor is the one that listens to their patients, doesn’t play gatekeeper with medically justifiable and necessary treatments, and doesn’t withhold those treatments based on how the patient looks.

To elaborate on this, I am on TRT. I’m not a small man, at 6’1” & 270 lbs. Before TRT I was 335. Doctors wouldn’t prescribe my TRT because I was a big guy & they didn’t think I needed it, even though my T level was a 35. I finally found a dr that would & since then I lost 65 lbs.

People peak mid-career in performance provided they were conscious in improving it continuously. I have seen few who matured years ahead and some never did but 50 sounds about ok. I hope best is not defined by US News or Castle Connolly...

Of course it’s problematic to generalize a doctor’s abilities based on age. But if one were to generalize, 40-55 is the sweet spot between inexperienced youth and aged stubbornness.

If you start with "Of course it’s problematic to generalize" shouldn't you just stop there? Why would you want to follow it with a generalization?
