I'm sad to say it also feels like a case of instinctively 'believe men' (Spacey's accusers) 'doubt women' (because they are untrustworthy. Eve the apple)...grim all round.

Two things can be true at once: 1. Homophobia makes it easy for ppl to believe gay ppl & esp. gay men are predatory & 2. Male sex abuse/assault survivors are *still* disbelieved, discredited & shamed. Society generally treats SA survivors like crap, regardless of gender.

Right. Ppl act like it was *just* Anthony Rapp being brave that started the Consequence Train for Spacey. It wasn’t. Other ppl saying “Me, too,” specifically abt Spacey-incl. HoC staff & crew-is when he started suffering consequences.

Of course, guys have been taking about Kevin Spacey for *years*. If you think people believed his first accuser because it was a man, you’re ignoring all the accusers who came before.

Also ignoring that consequences didn’t start flowing to Spacey until OTHER accusers came forward. For ex: Production on HoC wasn’t suspended until other accounts-incl. from HoC crew/staff-came to light. It took more than just Rapp being brave.
