It's an equal area projection that is valid across Africa It's good for analysis but perhaps not cartography? epsg.io/6933
I'm interested to know if you know of a better projection? Criteria are: equal area and commonly recognised by EPSG code... that's it.

I have looked at Africa in Landsat and Sentinel-2 a lot and this image, for example, has a standard colour stretch of surface reflectance (USGS level 2 data). I think it's fascinating how bright the Sahara is and how dark the Congo is.
How do you make that look "normal"?

Dealing today with a THREDDS server that, last month, worked perfectly but now my code no longer works and the server has suddenly stopped talking with terra/raster/GDAL like it used to, bring on the COGeotiffs I say.

400 TB of GeoTIFFs being processed in parallel over a hundred servers and thousands of processes.
