The black header sucks. Not everyone likes black, so give us an option to opt-out. Maybe a theme settings in the profile?

Nah, it's great! Some people dislike all sorts of things, can't please them all :). Give it a few days and see how it feels.

that's where you're wrong. the simple single thing you have to do to 'please them all' is to make a button to opt out of it.

Why does a dark header imply something is wrong, or uninviting?

Black is an uninviting color White is neutral Black is the color of "No". Black hdr is stark contrast to the rest indicating a problem

We’re not using black—it’s dark blue gray. Black isn’t the color of no—if anything that’s red. And the contrast is intentional :).

Might as well be black; It's dark enough. Again, the contrast is uninviting and looks incorrect; like something didn't load all the way

with that stark of contrast, yes Just dsn't feel right. Looks wrong. Smthng more white would look better. What was wrong with prev ver?

Visual updates are in addition to product updates. GitHub will be responsive eventually.

And then you’ll have all the right features no matter what device you use ;).
