My favorite Super Bowl ads: - Smaht Pahk - Amazon Before Alexa - Google Home - Hulu + Tom Brady Funny, but we'll never remember the brand: Jason Momoa Best of film & TV: Marvel / Disney+ Truly forgettable head-scratchers: - Audi - Under Armour - Coca-Cola

I feel like an untrained algorithm concocted that Audi commercial: Frozen is big. But you know what else is big? Game of Thrones’s Maisie Williams. Can’t go wrong.

Again, any time you have to TELL someone something about your brand, you should be asking how you can SHOW it instead.

    Was that... a Scientology commercial?

With a different logo at the end, it could easily have been: 👟 Nike commercial about dedication 🚙 Ford commercial about toughness 🧃 Gatorade commercial about love of sports And probably countless others.

So many of these commercials feel like an agency’s brand-agnostic “big idea” with a logo slapped on at the end. Like that Kia commercial. Josh’s story is interesting. But what does it have to do with the new Kia? Nothing.

Don’t get me wrong; patriotism is great. But like any cause/value, it needs to be reflected in the company, not just in a montage alongside heartfelt music, bookended with logos. Basically, show don’t tell.

Google aside, largely disappointed in Super Bowl commercials so far. 2 categories I don’t love: 🎉 chaos/outrageousness with seemingly no connection to the brand 🇺🇸 Patriotism pandering to heroes, military, etc. that feels empty because it’s not tied to company initiatives

Well that Google commercial made me cry and that’s a first for a Super Bowl commercial.

What’s it like being a new mom and a business owner? I had to move diaper cream out of frame on a video call today

I've always identified as a writer. That's just who I am. But MAN, trying to write a book made me wonder if I was ~actually~ a writer at all. Here's what I learned in the process, both about writing a book and about myself.
